Motril 7 - 14 May 2003. Many thanks to our hosts Antonio and Marica at the Tropical venue. Great food, great accommodation, great time. Simon and Roger work magnificent in defeat at table football (futbolin). But we think maybe 57 extra cans of beer and 6 bottles of wine may have swayed their judgement! The cable secret will be kept as such only us and the internet will ever know what that was about. Big Dr. Steve Atkins, showed the whole world that you do not need legs to take off or land. Just an omelette for breakfast ad lots of fatty meat or cheese during the day! Roger (last thumbnail on the page) proved that ground handling is something you do just before launching off a cliff 1000 feet up! He was a complete beginner on day one but finished by flying high, very high competently solo. Not without much hard work, many tandem flights and lots of ground control. Well done, I really hope you continue. Simon demonstrated his first top landing on top of the Sierra Nevada. He had not actually planned it but his 2nd and very impressive take off saved him a big walk out. Not to be outdone, Mark copied him, a day or two later! He made an impromptu arrival almost back at take off whilst trying to ridge soar below the height of the bushes! Meanwhile Colin, taking time out from Trinidad still does not know why Jamaima prefers cliffs to mountains. His flying, however was impeccable. Kevin ably demonstrated perfect launch control and many long flights. Andrew, performed several of his first long soaring flights whilst chatting up local vegetation with his perfect Spanish. Ian the Ipod man showed Delaney (Tony) how to stay up properly, whilst Delaney took his vengeance, ably assisted by Steve against, Roger and Simon on table football. Without exception everyone had a great time, me included. Its a great pleasure to be able to meet fun people, go flying every day, get drunk every night and get paid for it. What a job! All in all it was a great week. One to be remembered forever. New friends made, old ones lost and much to talk about during the long wet evenings awaiting us in the UK! I hope we will all meet again... Please click the thumbnails to enlarge: The People The Accommodation The flying Sorry there are not any more flying pictures. We were too busy flying, but if anyone has anymore please email me and they will be put here. Thanks to Colin, and Roger for there contributions, so far. |
