SKY DIVE: TANDEM JUMPS

Each Jump 295
For groups of 6 245

Skydiving made simple - all that is required is a short safety briefing and nerves of steel! The plane climbs to 10,000 feet, at which point, firmly strapped to your instructor, and without further ado, you launch into 30 seconds freefall - WOW!

Your sky dive instructor  controls everything that happens during this part of the descent, leaving you free to look around and enjoy and wonder at the world as you have never seen it and experience the exhilaration of freefall skydiving.

At 5000ft your tandem instructor opens the main parachute which is a state of the art high performance square canopy. Once open the controls allow you to assist the instructor to fly to the target area. Some six or seven minutes later you will glide to a soft stand up landing on the drop zone, leaving you breathless, smiling, and having received your Tandem Skydive Certificate ready to rush off and tell your friends just what sky diving is all about!!

STATIC LINE 2 DAY PARACHUTING COURSE

Course 295

The course is designed as an introduction to the sport. After having completed your first jump using an advanced ram-air parachute which opens automatically, you can continue to progress to freefall in as few as six jumps. 1000, 2000, 3000, CHECK.... these words will ring in your head at the end of two days of intensive training as you launch yourself out of the jump plane at 3,000 feet.

You  undergo an intensive day of training lessons in order for you to jump safely . You will arrive at the club at about 8.30am where you will meet your fellow students and your instructors. You will then proceed with the PLFs - parachute landing falls. You will fall backwards, forwards, sideways and will continue to do so until finally the parachuting instructor is satisfied. Then he will have you lying on the stomach, arching your back with your arms and legs stretched out and at the same time shouting "one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, check".

You will also be taught how to deploy your reserve parachute, the procedure for entering and exiting the aircraft and all the other essential skills required to make your parachute jump safe. They will all be practised so as to become automatic responses - you won't forget to check that your parachute has deployed properly and you will remember to keep your legs together on landing.

At most clubs the actual parachuting will take place on the following day although some do the jump on the same day. When your turn comes you will take up your pre-arranged position in the aircraft. Your equipment will have been double checked and your static line attached. The aircraft will climb to height and then circle the drop zone. Each time it circles one of you will jump and experience a unique combination of excitement and fear enhanced by the noise of the aircraft and buffeting of the slipstream. The world will seem a very confusing place for a matter of moments as you fall away from the aircraft then the parachute will be pulled open automatically by the static line and suddenly all the chaos will be replaced by peace and tranquillity. Having completed your checks and discovered all is well you will have recovered your equilibrium and be able to enjoy the next two minutes as you float gently to earth.

You will be jumping using an advanced ram-air square parachute. This is a state of the art canopy and is more sophisticated than the traditional round chute. The great advantage of the square chute is that the progress to freefall parachuting is much quicker and can be achieved with as little as 6 jumps. It is also much more fun to "fly" as it is highly manoeuvrable.

* Cost of additional jumps from 30 - 40 and are booked on the day.
