DIRECTIONS                        M62 towards Leeds. Pick up the A1(M) then A1, A168, A19, A172. Turn right for Carlton the follow sign for Chop gate. Up steep hill then once on top, look out for turning into Lord Stones car park.

Permission from the land owners John & Chris to take off on this site - he owns the cafe on top. So, why not call in for a cuppa and a bite. Let him know who you are - he is extremely paraglider and hang glider friendly. You can also camp or caravan on site FREE!!. Guys like this are hard to find and need our fullest support. The site is also used by a number of clubs, a model club which has a private launch area, a Gliding Club and North Yorks Sailwing Club. The site is used by hill, powered flyers and model aircraft flyers.  Best wind directions for hill soaring are north west to north east with the ability to use Carlton Bank NZ 518025 when the wind switches round to the west - but you have to walk to the top from Model Ridge and keep a look out for the Sailplanes launching.  For PPG flying it is an excellent site for nil winds with fantastic views over North Yorkshire - but watch out if the winds increase and turn westerly or easterly
