Pendle Hill - Ribble Valley
GRID REF: SD 773391 Sheet 103 ABILITY School training site WIND DIRECTION NW ALTITUDE 557 metres ASL AIRSPACE 3500’ ASL NEAREST TELEPHONE Wellsprings Inn DIRECTIONS Situated in the Ribble Valley. From Preston or Skipton, take the A59. Pendle is south of Clitheroe. Take the Sabden Rd heading south for about 1.5 miles. Most paraglider pilots park just below the Wellsprings Inn and dry Ski slope and walk across. Hang glider pilots usually drive up to the Nick of Pendle and either take of from there if they feel lucky, or walk up to the Pimple (trig point 383m). The site on the Pimple side is very soarable however it is the aim of most pilots to fly the bigger main face of Mearley Moor and Pendle Moor. To do this they either walk a very long way or in suitable conditions fly across. COMMENTS Pilots should check with school. Due to pressure from farmers and other hill users. We have been asked not to fly down to the bottom of the main face of Pendle. So if its scratchy you should land early and high up.
