Winter Hill - Bolton
GRID REF: SE 025148 sheet 110 ABILITY beginner upwards WIND DIRECTION N – NE ALTITUDE 456 m/ ASL AIRSPACE 3500’ ASL NEAREST TELEPHONE DIRECTIONS: From the B6226, approach the hill from the rear on narrow tarmac roads. COMMENTS Easy site with huge top and bottom landing. Although in parts the bottom landing is boggy and with large tussocks - so wear good boots! Fence behind take off is to be avoided as is the 1000' mast about 1/2 k behind! Best in due north or with a little east. In summer sea breeze wind often backs to the west in which case you are best going to Rivington Pike.
As it is top driveable it can get very busy. If parking on top DO NOT BLOCK ANY OF THE ACCESS ROADS OR GATES INTO VARIOUS INSTALLATIONS
